The Jibber Jabber After

You have not received this message in error.  This is the aftermath of me blitzing in NaNoWriMo this weekend:
Yeah, Hiro.  I know how you feel.

Here was my goal for Friday: 2k words
What did I actually accomplish: 0 words (YIKES!!!)
Here was my goal for the weekend:  add 4k more words
With my 6k already done, meeting both of these goals would have brought me to 12k to start the new workweek.  So, with my NaNoWriMo Fail from Friday, did I make it?
Drum roll please.
...
..
.
Here is my total:  13k
YAY!!!!  *throws confetti*

How are you surviving faring in your NaNo<insert your version> endeavor?  If you're not NaNoing, please share a good book that you've read lately.  I heart book recommendations.  Nothing like fattening up my TBR list for the holidays.

  1. Awesome. I'm not doing NaNo. Too much swimming for my daughter this time of year.

I just finished Liesl & Po by Lauren Oliver. It was great.

  2. I'm reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor; only a few chapters in so far, but it definitely has me intrigued.

  4. Good luck with NaNo. It's going pretty slow for me over here. I'm only a little over 4k. :)

  5. Good for you. I'm having a great time at Nano. Taking a break right now, but stopped a little over 20k. for the month of November, this IS my day job.

Keep up the good work. I just finished reading the first book in the Game of Thrones. If I don't read a little of something before I go to bed to pull myself out of my WIP, I ain't gonna get no sleep. I try to read something pretty distant from what I write,so as not to confuse the issues.

    Bonne chance.

  10. Natalie - Good luck with the swimming. Thanks for the suggestion.

Jennifer - I've heard a lot of great things about that book

Read my books - Congratulations on expecting! Yay! And I can so understand that sleep zone

Tracey - We're only a week in to the month so you've got plenty of time.

Paradise - Glad you're enjoying NaNoWriMo. I've read the first book and the second book of that series. Hope to get back into the third one very soon.

K.T. - Thank you so much. All the encouragement from everyone has been soooo helpful.

Stephen - Yep, I loved Hiro too. :-) Hop on the train. NaNoWriMo is taking passengers all the time.

Angela - Thank you. I'm going! I'll tell you...I'm going lol!!!

Reece - Now I'm blushing. Thank you so much.

Raelyn - Thanks. Working on more as I can, which life is now making it a bit more difficult but that's okay. Obstacles are meant to be conquered. And you've got plenty of time to add to your word count. Go NaNo! Go to all the writers of the world.

  13. Congrats! Keep up the good work!

Not NaNoing, so I'll share a book. Just finished Shine by Lauren Myracle - good read, though not quite the story I was expecting...!

  14. Wow, talk about blitz! I'm impressed--I don't think I've ever written so much in such a short time in my entire life. :O

  15. Thanks for the book recommendation, Susanna. I'll have to check it out.

CNHomberg, that's why that picture of Hiro is quite appropriate. I was so fried after all that dragging-the-story-out=of-my brain writing.

  20. I just 'buddied' you back. Awesome job! I have a few books just waiting for me come December (Paranormalcy, the hourglass door, and matched to name a few.) I better get writing so I can get reading!

  21. Ha! LOVE the picture! And congrats on surpassing your goals!

  22. Aw, that's excellent progress, Angela. Congrats, and keep it up.

I'm reading Heartbreak Creek by Kaki Warner at present. It's an American set historical by a new-to-me author. I'm not far in yet, but I'm really enjoying it.

  24. Hey there,
I am just passing through from Alex's blog hop, and I am still working my way around all the blogs on the list. So I thought I would say a quick "hello" and I will stop by when I can. Great blog!!
    Eve :)

  25. J.A., so glad we're buddied up. YAY! Looks like you've got a nice line up of reads.

Yeah, Peggy. That picture soooo describes how I felt after the weekend was over.

That's okay Bethany. Having an awesome weekend is the best reason to have a NaNo-slip up :-)

Thanks for stopping by Eve.E. Glad to have you.

  27. I threw my back out and that put me behind my personal goals. Now that I have medicine, I hope to get back on track.

  28. Thank you so much Chantele. Trying to make it :-)

On no, Barbara. Glad you've got some medicine for relief.

  31. Don`t work too hard! Give yourself an opportunity to rest. Be easy on caffeine :)

  32. I'll try to heed that warning, Olga. I think my back is already hinting at going on strike just for general purposes lol!!!

  33. Wow, go you! My NaNo wordcount is abysmal. I was supposed to catch-up this weekend, and I'm not really sure what happened. Haha.

As for book recs, even though I had a reading funk in October (too tired from LIFE), I ended up reading a lot of books I really liked.

Anna Dressed in Blood (snarky, scary, supernatural fun!), Daughter of Smoke and Bone (gorgeous writing, fantastic world-building), Son of Neptune (the return of Percy Jackson!), and I'm reading Goliath, the final book in Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan trilogy now. Loving it so far.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Squeee! Congrats on beating that. Don't you love it when you can overcome a tough spot? Today will be mine.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well, Krispy, LIFE has a way of being quite the interesting thing. Glad you had some time for some great reads. I hope to get Goliath very soon.

Thanks Donna. It felt great making and passing my goal. Now I must get back on the wild bronco of plot craziness and get going.

  36. New follower here, Angela! Nice to "meet" you! Congrats on your word count, that is awesome! I'm not doing NaNo this year, but it's so much fun rooting everyone else on. Keep up the great work :)

  37. Thanks so much for stopping by and for your words of encouragement, Julie. To be honest with you, I can use them now for NaNo and even after on this writing journey. But I suppose we all could. Thanks for sharing some love :-)

  38. I'm doing #nanowake and my goal is 2k a day. I only did 1k today so hopefully I'll have a 3k day in the future :). Congrats on making your goal!

    ReplyDelete
  39. That is such a wonderful dailey goal, Elle. I might need to use something like that to build up my word count more.
