Goals + Hurdles = Girdles

I'd like to imagine my trek along this writing path is one that is as beautiful as this racing horse, long form stretched perfectly over a hurdle, aiming to reach a goal of victory.

Except, here's my reality:

The one in the yellow-gold-dress-looking-thing, head tilted as if about to fall (I think that's Washington lol!!!) - yeah, that's more along the lines of what things feel like for me.  But, at least there's a lot of laughter :-)

I've got some goals set for March 2012 and with some work, I hope to achieve them.  Each month, I've gotten a bit more aggressive, re-evaluating and adjusting as needed.  So far, I've mainly upped the ante with my goals.  But I like having the ability to adjust down a bit if needed.

Name: Angela L Brown
Twitter: @neostateofmind
Goals for March 2012:
1: Complete revision of MINGLED and get it to beta readers
2: Post 3 blogs a week
3: Read 3 books
4: Comment to other blogs, at least 20 to 25 a week.
5. Participate in A Picture Paints 1000 Words blogfest at Unicorn Bell
6. Get at lest 14 of my A to Z blogging challenge blogs scheduled.

As a reminder, Insecure Writer's Support Group is the first Wednesday of the month so it's sneaking up on us quick, fast and in a hurry.  Should be this Wednesday, I believe.  Someone do correct me please if I'm looking at this wrong :-)  Whether you'll be participating or not, is there something in particular you'd like to improve, maybe drink more water, eat fewer doughnuts, drive the car in purposeless circles a few less times a week?

  1. LOL! Oh man, I think we've all felt like George Washington there at some point in our lives.

    1. Oh yeah. His haphazard running style speaks volumes. But I'd like to think that if he falls, someone will help him get back up lol!!

And hey, at least you're in the lead in the second race.

    1. Oh good, Alex. Thank you. Got to make sure to get my post ready.

LOL!! Well, in the lead, true. And not doing it gracefully from the looks of things.

  3. The one goal I expected to see wasn't there.

While your edited book is with betas, what are your plans for your next book?

Inquiring minds want to know. :)

    1. Alas, I haven't got MINGLED to betas yet. I was hoping to make that happen this week. Not sure if that will happen but Lord knows I will give it my best shot. Meaning, there will be no Moscato involved at all.

UNCOMMON is the next book I want to work on. I didn't list it for March because, honestly, I'm a little shy about this one. This is the one I've gone back and forth in my mind about self-pubbing. It has vampires, a demigod and includes a tiny bit of Indian (not Native American) mythos. I want it to be a part of a whole series of novels for my NEO chronicles. I just have so many things going on in my mind about it.

Sorry for the rambling answer lol!!!

  6. Yay, I cracked up at the Presidents Race pic - it's a running joke (in the DC-area, at least) about how they never let poor Teddy Roosevelt win.

    Good luck with your goals!!

  20. Let's see. My goal for March -- as well as a great topic for "Insecure Writers" -- would be to send my revised manuscript back to my editor with CONFIDENCE and JOY this month.

Not hover over the send button for hours, take a shot of whisky, finally hit send, and then fling myself facedown on the floor in a paroxysm of terror, moaning, "oh my gosh, she's going to hate it ..."

    1. Oh yeah, that second paragraph could so be me, and that's just at the thought of sending my MS off to beta readers. Man, I've got to get these revisions done. And instead of a shot of whiskey, make mine a glass or three of Moscato :-)
