Goals, #Writemotivation, NEVERLOVE

I haven't done an update in a while.  But that doesn't mean I haven't been setting or working toward making goals.  Let me share about last month and this month:

Goals for April 2012:
1: Read 3 books.
2: Comment to other blogs, at least 20 to 25 a week.
3. Fully participate in the A to Z blogging challenge with daily posts and visiting other blogs as well.

Goals for May 2012:

1: Complete first draft of NEVERLOVE.
2: Comment to other blogs, at least 20 to 25 a week.
3. Complete minimum two blog posts a week.

With April being a beta read month for MINGLED and a month of focus on the A to Z blogging challenge, I had a chance to read a bit more than 3 books:
The Secret of Spruce Knoll by Heather McCorkle
Incarnate by Jodi Meadows
Possession by Elana Johnson
Solstice by PJ Hoover (check out the good news about PJ!!!)
Cabinet of Earths by Anne Nesbet
Angelfall by Susan Ee
I also got to meet goals 2 and 3 as well.  So April - I'd say - was a good month :-)

How am I doing in May?
Goal numero uno is on a steady pace.  I've completed the first 5 chapters and am working on chapter 6.  I have recuperated enough that I can speed up my pace and feel confident this goal can be met.
Goal numero dos is a "Go!"  I love visiting over blogs.  Even if you don't see my raised eyebrow in the comment section, know that I'm still scoping you out :-)
Goal numero tres is happening with the help of other authors.  Since I was focused on A to Z last month, I've gotten stoked about sharing books by authors that are established or new-to-me for the month of May.  Some you already know.  Others will be a new introduction.  And I love it all!

NEVERLOVE is like a new love to me.  I feel like I'm in the honeymoon stage right now.  Probably just the "first draft euphoria".  Once it's time to check in to Revision City, I'm sure I'll be back on the ground with the rest of reality.  For now, guess I'll enjoy the bliss.

So, friends, how goes it with your goals?

  2. Great goals. Good luck with them. I tried doing monthly goals but then life got in the way and I accomplished nothing!

  8. I haven't really made any goals for May. Sometimes, I make goals for the week but let them get away from me. One of my current goals is to finish a short screenplay that I've been working on since january. I kinda lost my steam for it and it should've been done by now because I planned to shoot it before the Summer...looks like that ain't gonna happen! LOL

Some things I have done though is to setup the linky for my Monday Movie Meme, update my Blogger profile to make it public and also start reading new blogs, so those were some very short-term goals that I completed since this weekend.

    1. Well, heck. You've taken some great steps toward goal achievement. Maybe that movie short won't get done this summber, BUT, you can start attacking smaller chunks and who knows what you'll achieve :-)

    1. Thanks, Gwen. Honestly, I can't say I'd be where I am now without setting these monthly goals for #writemotivation, the brainchild of KT Hanna. This is been so helpful.

  15. Enjoy the honeymoon :) Looks like you're doing well with your goals - good work! How did you like those books you read? I've only read Possession off that list, but I have Spruce Knoll and Solstice. Which should I read first? :)

    1. I'm doing all I can to relish this time of joy :-)

Now, to answer your question, I would have to say Spruce Knoll. I actually say this for the fact that Solstice has been sold by PJ Hoover and it will be re-released either late this year or sometime next year. Can't remember the timeframe. Two thumbs up to PJ!!!

  16. When do you sleep, woman?! And you have a munchkin too!

For April I did something I put off for too long. I met with other writers and friends IN PERSON throughout the month. Blogs are wonderful, but nothing beats a good hug and a rousing bull session.

    1. Chipmunk has been very forgiving of me. Plus, I have her reading books so that when she's reading, I'm either reading something so it can be "together" time or doing some writing. Sleep comes to kidnap me and I just wake up to the alarm the next day lol!!!

Glad you've had a chance to meet some bloggers in person. I can't wait for a chance to do some of that as well.

  18. Wow -- are you writing the whole first draft in a month? NaNo in May -- You go!

I am excited about my new WIP, too, but it's not getting done in a month. And I'm already over the word count quota for this part of the story. Urg. What else is new? I am too wordy.

    1. I'm hoping to get the whole draft done this month. It's an aggressive goal, but one that, even if I don't meet it, will have me very close to the finish line.

You may not be wordy...just beautifically descriptive. Yes, not sure if that is a real word but there it is lol!!
