Scratch that. Let me just hope I've made some progress in the midst of Revision City madness :-)
Goals for July 2012:
1: Complete first round revisions of MINGLED. Uh...no.
2: Begin revisions of NEVERLOVE by mid-July. Well, okay, so I didn't plan it but this got finished. I don't know what happened. It just did lol!
3: Post 3 blogs a week. Check.
4: Comment to other blogs, at least 20 a week. This is where I'm feeling like an epic FAIL! I'm used to going to so many blogs every day and leaving comments that just barely making this goal in one week really makes me angry with myself. UGH!!!
5: Plot out basic/skeletal data for MG story idea. No skeletal outline yet, but I've got a little time to make this happen. I did sketch some ideas of how to make this a possible series but I'm not sure that counts as a skeletal plot.

To keep myself from delving into some pity party, in which I would invite all of you to join me - BYOW (bring your own whine/wine) style, of course - I've got to give a HUGE shout out for WRiTE CLUB.

Keeping it short today. The streets of Revision City rest for no one. Seriously, like no rest at all lol!!!

I'm revising, too, and trying to make an effort to visit more bloggy friends. I also submitted my entry to write club. Yay!
ReplyDeleteYay! So many things going on in the writerly life :-)
DeleteYou have to have goals and you have to write them down. Good luck to you, and see you at the Write Club.
ReplyDeleteCool. Go WRiTE CLUB. Battle on :-)
DeleteRevisions of NEVERLOVE finished? Awesome! I must take to the typing of my manuscript...the writing is finished. Oh! Did I mention that I LOATHE the typing? Arrgh! Suffering commences - but the deed must be accomplished. Lol. Have a great day, Angela!
ReplyDeleteYeah. Still not sure how I even did it but there they are. Got some feedback and looking forward to some more to see where things will go.
DeleteAnd through the suffering with the typing will come a wonderful novel :-)
It sounds to me like you've done pretty good with your goals! Don't beat yourself up:)
ReplyDeleteAnd I've heard about this WriteCLub. I may have to go check it out. Thanks for the link.
Thanks, Deana. I guess we're often harder on ourselves than others can be.
DeleteYou got one story revised, even if it wasn't the one you planned, so that still great forward progress! I hear you on getting around to blogs. I was a total and complete no-show for over a week. You are SO right when you say the street of RC wait for no one.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a fab day my friend!
Oh yeah. RC is not a friendly town. I can hear the beat of keystrokes all around and some of those sounds are coming from the Delete quite a bit.
DeleteThe blogging can be challenging, so don't feel bad. But you've done well otherwise!
ReplyDeleteComing from you, the blogging master, that's a compliment :-)
DeleteYou still did pretty well with your goals! Yay! As for blogging, it's always hard to keep up, especially if you have a lot of blogs you follow. It's impossible to keep up and also do all the writing/revising stuff, so don't get too down on yourself for that! I can't believe July is already winding down!
ReplyDeleteI know!!! In a matter of days, a new month will be upon us. What the heck!
DeleteYou're doing great, Angela. You got a lot going there and I'm impressed that you've got so much of it done. :D You still have time. Even if you don't get as far as you want, at least you have a goal that you want to achieve. Keep it up. We're all rooting for you. :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for the cheering, Andrew. It's more helpful than often realized.
DeleteI hear you. I'll be seriously putting my head down over the next couple of weeks to get my next book done. I haven't even finished writing it yet, and then have to get it into a polished draft form. gah!
ReplyDeleteWow, Mary. You are seriously on the grind!
DeleteMaybe I'll see you in Revision City since that's where I'm heading today. You're doing great with your goals, Angela. Don't knock yourself out if you miss now and then. You're moving forward and that's the main thing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shelley. I guess I can put a lot of pressure on myself. Hoping that means a diamond is being made. :-)
DeleteIt seems when we focus on something, then something else suffers neglect. That's just how it is:) And when is NEVERLOVE coming out?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure when NEVERLOVE will come out. This is my first pass. I have a couple more I'd like to do before I call her done. Plus, I'm doing some considerations of a few things and leaning back toward self-pubbing it a little more. But you all will be the first to know when that puppy is ready.
DeleteSo, you mean you had a goal to *start* revisions of NEVERLOVE by July, but you actually finished them? That's fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThis month I finished my WIP and partially outlined a short story. But I'm waiting for my signed contract to be returned before committing to write the short story, so I unexpectedly started working on the second draft of GRUNSDAY. So I'm in Revision City, too.
Another resident of RC taking a second to see the sun. Hey neighbor :-)
DeleteI know the feeling. I've been falling seriously short on my goals too. Hang in there though, we can do it!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Heather. Yes we can!!!
DeleteI didn't get to visit many blogs this week either. I was busy reading. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou juggle those plates far better than I do.
I'm kind of glad you kept busy with the reading-thing. :-)
DeleteGoals are goals. They aren't always attainable, but it's been to have one than none. It's been forever since I last visited blogs, too. Thanks for stopping by mine so often. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, David. I enjoy your posts so yeah, I try to make my way there :-)
DeleteI think you do a fabulous job doing it all, Angela! I wish I could be more like you! Setting goals, making them, being a cheerleader for those around you, drafting, completing, reading, and a day job and being a mommy! Heck, do you have time to even sleep? You rock; don't beat yourself up. :))
ReplyDeleteLOL!! It's funny you ask about the sleep. I normally don't get to sleep for very long, more like a few hours, wake a few minutes, back to sleep, yada, yada. You get the picture. Well, this morning was the first morning in a long while I remember going to bed late and not getting up until the alarm went off. Not once did I wake up. So real sleep happens, on occasion. :-)
DeleteI'm so excited to join Write Club with you. You are the goddess of goals.
