Where Do We Go From Here?

*Don't forget to take advantage of the YA Hop Giveaway still going on for your chance to win a paperback edition of Katana by Cole Gibsen!*

I want to call your attention to two new tabs on my blog:

Untethered Realms and NEO Chronicles.

I've mentioned before that I'm obviously not my own best PR team. I tell myself that I have every right and reason to shout from the mountain tops about Neverlove. There are loads of people who can identify with the book and it has several 4 and 5 star reviews from readers familiar with who I am and readers who don't know me from Eve. But tooting my horn causes a cold sweat to break out on my forehead. So I'm working with a couple of groups to work on that, mainly by tooting other authors' horns while they toot mine. That's where Untethered Realms comes in.

A group of us have gathered together to help promote each other's books. I love using my blog to showcase other authors anyway so I'm excited about being a part of this group. Please click on the tab and discover the members. Please make sure to stop by our FB page and "Like" us as well.

NOW...NEO Chronicles.  That is a special project that I'm eager to share. You can click on NEO Chronicles but it's so much more fun to have it right here for you to check it out:

NEO Chronicles: Case Files Revealed

A perfect storm is brewing:
* Jealous goddesses
* Vengeful gods
* Hell with a new master, more craving
* Dark intentions of the living and undead

All ready to pour chaos upon unwitting humans.

Along the vein of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, members of NEO must come together if mankind is to be saved from the evil intentions of others and from itself.

NEO – Network of Extraordinaires and Otherworldlies:

Those who answered the call from NEO play their part in maintaining balance in our ever-changing times. With power-hungry malcontents, jealous gods, and even those with misguided good intentions, the fate of our world has oft been held in the hands of unsung heroes such as those that are members of NEO.

But before NEO, these heroes had lives, loves, issues and interests that did not involve saving mankind.

NEO Chronicles are case files revealing a hint of the lives lived before and at the turning points where NEO joined into their life's path. Told in novellas and short stories, readers will learn of NEO's imperfect heroes willing to risk it all to keep mankind from all out destruction.

COMING SOON: Aimee and Luca, in FRAILTIES OF THE BOND, where vengeance leads one young man to the last things he ever expected: love and a new purpose in life

It's serial reading fun in store. If I had the talent, I'd come up with some kind of, what is it called, ummm....picture-thingie that represents NEO. Gosh, where is my vocabulary when I need it? lol!!!

Anywho, I wanted to ask, what are your thoughts - as readers and writers - on tooting horns and serial writing?

I'm happy to toot about other people's books but the thought of yelling at everyone about my own makes me feel a little sick to my stomach. I always imagine everyone suddenly turning to look at me like I just farted or something.

I just wandered through the Untethered Realms. Nice collection of authors and a good plan for promoting each other. The NEO sounds like a winner but I'll admit to a bit of an impatience problem when it comes to following serials.

You know I cringe at tooting my own horn, but I love to do it for others.

I LURVE serials. And I so love the concept of what you're doing with NEO. I loved FOTB and now can't wait to see what you have next in store :D

Picture thingie - you sound like me. ;)
NEO sounds incredible!

I also cringe at tooting my own horn. I also feel like if I constantly try and promote my own work people will get tired of seeing it and look the other way. Is this group accepting anymore people? I'd love to be a part of something like this!!

NEO - wow....must read!!

Self-promotion is hard to do for just about everyone I know. we can't seem to separate it from "bragging", but telling the world good news isn't bragging to me. You're not getting up and saying, "I'm so great, look at me!" You're saying, "People like me, OMG squeeeee!" And I think that's lovely. Evidently, all your other readers do too. ^_^

I can only imagine how hard it is to self-promote, so I commend you on your efforts. I think it's way easier to promote other people because I naturally want to squee and cheer for things and people I like. Plus, it comes with not having to feel weird about talking about myself!

NEO sounds like a cool idea for a serial!

That sounds really cool!
I feel weird promoting my stuff. I'll mention it now and then, but unless it's a tour for a new release, I find it really hard to self-promote.

You're so mega awesome, Angela. You should scream, "I RULE" all of the time. :) If not, I'm happy to do it for you.

I can't wait to see NEO come out into the light. Have a great day!

Or getting that glossed over look in their eyes that says, "My attentions are no longer with you" lol!1

Angela Brown said...

Yeah, being interested in that next bit or that next nugget of info can be a patience-game :-)

Angela Brown said...

Glad we can tell the world about each other's books. So much easier.

Angela Brown said...

LOL! Thanks, Laura :-)

Angela Brown said...

Will check :-)

Angela Brown said...

I still have to work on that lol!!

Horn tooting is a natural extension of publishing. I think as long as the 'tooter' offers something interesting or entertaining then s/he's offering something of value.

re: serials
I just realized I have never read more than three books in a series. After three books I lose interest--even when it's written by the giants in the industry.

Angela Brown said...

Krispy, I think you pinned the horn tooting point right there :-)

Angela Brown said...

I wonder if it's part of that introvert in us that makes it so?

Angela Brown said...

Awwww...thanks Mary :-)

ref: Horn tooting is a natural extension of publishing

I've got some work to do on that lol!

Shelley Munro said...

Like many others who have commented, I love to promote others but find it difficult to toot my own horn. As for serials, they're the in thing and I think we'll be seeing more in the future.

Angela Brown said...

And here we are, in an industry where tooting one's horn helps to get attention. Le sigh lol!

Since the NEO Chronicles is more of an intro to a few characters to come, I hope it's enjoyed. Not sure if I can go into very many of them, actually not sure if there'll be more than 4 or 5 but will have fun writing them and hope readers enjoy the stories.

The NEO Chronicles sound fascinating! Look forward to hearing more about them!
