The Post It Notes and I Have Returned

I love writing.

There's no splitting hairs about it. The last month I spent doing a semi-break helped me realize that with or without my ludicrous visits to Procrastination Station, my Chipmunk and my writing are the two constants I couldn't do without.

So...

I've returned to blogging a bit more realistic in balancing my goals and my desires. I pushed myself a great deal and have no regrets but I'm going to be less "lost in the clouds" and more "girl on fire" - goal oriented, focused, driven...those aren't going anywhere. Time management? That's where I'm working on adjusting things so my life's tag cloud doesn't have me in a tiny obscure corner again.

I've missed blogging a lot...more than I realized I would. I missed reading blogs and commenting and sharing my thoughts and doing the same here on my own blog. I missed it so much. I missed all of you.

I think taking a bit of a break allowed me to return to some of the basics of reading, writing and spending time with my Chipmunk to get back on track.

My intention is to blog on Mondays and Wednesdays with something quick, fun or rant-like-cuz-I-feel-it for Fridays.

Tuesdays and Thursdays aren't forbidden, of course, just won't be normal post days. Guest posts, spotlights, giving attention to a worthwhile cause...yeah, you know it. And if they happen on my normal post days...I'm good with that :-)

I've pushed my release date back for my sequel to Neverlove. I was looking to release it in August, but the more I thought about it, bringing it out in October is so appropriate. It's my greatest hope and honor to do another dual book push with my dear friend Gwen Gardner. Maybe a three to four day fun-shazaam-blast! Woot!

My second NEO Chronicles: Characters Revealed project is on target for release this month. Very exciting. YAY! And I've got my gears working for the third project for this series.

That's what's happening with me. What's happening with you all?

  1. It's always good to take a break, relax and think about how you now want to manage things in a more balanced way. Seems like it's working for you.

Time management is a thing many of us struggle with. What to do and when to do it, is always an issue when you have to juggle so many things in life on a daily basis. So right now, I've spent enough time blogging this morning (time management) and I have to go out, so Angela, have a lovely day and I'll be back.

    1. Rum-Punch Drunk, you are so on point. I'm working on this time management thing. Sometimes I think I got it then other times I'm sure I've jumped ship and lost myself at sea lol!!

  2. Glad you've decided to time manage yourself. I was a bit of a mess myself before I made a blog schedule last November. It's all about doing what's right for you. Glad you're back and don't fell bad about launch delays. Just release the best book that's within you in your own time.

    1. Thanks. Sheena-kay. Although it's hard, you know, because I was thinking August would be great but further, honest thought about it made October a better release timeframe.

  3. You have been missed. But I'm glad you decided to reassess your schedule. It's good to have you back!

The best thing I ever did was cut back to two days. Of course I have the Back to Basics blog too, but that's only one day.

This week may only have one post though (today). I have company this week and the only time I have open to me is when they're sleeping! I'm trying to use that time to visit blogs and return emails.

    Welcome back to bloggy-land.

Enjoy your company and steal some sleep for yourself lol!

  4. Awesome that you're back. But it is good to pull back sometimes and spend more time with family. I'm planning to cut back this summer to mostly Monday only blogging with an occasional Wednesday. I'll be reading blogs, but maybe a bit less. I have to drive my daughter to swimming and it's going to be taking up more of my time.

  5. Being an inconsistent blogger myself, I understand the frustration of missing a post. You're smart to pull back and reevaluate your time, your life, and your blog. Life is complex, and it's impossible to follow the schedule forever without deviations.

  6. It's great to see you back and I love the "girl on fire" idea. That's what I need to be more often! Lost in the clouds is kind of the norm for me LOL.
So looking forward to the sequel to Neverlove. :)

You guys need a tour stop, let me know.
The Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule keeps me sane. Hope it works for you as well.

  9. Good to have you back in the blogosphere, Angela. It was really lonely here without you :-) But it's very important to take some time off from the regular projects, especially to spend time with the little ones.

    1. Thanks, Angela. Getting back to blogging is something I'm glad to get back into. And I'm getting all teary-eyed at being missed *sniffle sniffle*

  11. The Girl on Fire mode suits you well :)

Sometimes, a break is necessary to recharge, helps create some "you" time while carving out more quality moments with Chipmunk and also provides some clear perspectives on how to go about meeting your goals. I think you have this time management thing down given your latest plan to tackle everything in a way that allows you to do the things you enjoy, which is more than I could say for myself (time management and I are frenemies, for sure!).

By the way, I gave you the "Sisterhood" Award today. You can pick up the badge on my latest Monday Movie Meme post!

    1. Thanks for the award, Nicole. I'll grab it soon. Woot!!

I think me and time management had to have a long talk. Although I think we'll have to have another talk some time down the line, I think I made a little bit of progress in our conversation this time lol!

  12. Yay! Welcome back! You were missed. :)

  13. Congrats on that, Angela. I think the tendency I have to do too many things at a time will be the death of me. I do need to spend a LOT more time writing and editing and not going down side roads, considering how many mss I have languishing.

    One day...

Enjoy your victories! Looking forward to your next release.

    1. I think that's why I had to stop the blogging for a moment, give myself a chance to pull back the reins before I got too far gone. Glad to be back in blogging action :-)

  14. Time management! Agh! I'm struggling with this right now, but trying to iron out a routine. I mostly try to post on Monday's but once in awhile I get another post in during the week. I do like that I'm devoting more time to writing, but I admit... I miss the blogosphere. Good luck, Angela. I think your plan sounds great!

  15. Good for you for cutting back. I miss blogging too when I do, but I like the time with my family and of course, writing! Enjoy!

  16. I've missed you, Angela! Setting goals and time management are two things are at the top of my list! I've got to set manageable goals...because I've missed blogging, reading, commenting, and WRITING so so much.
But spending time with your Chipmunk - and me with my boys is best of all!

  17. When I first started my blog, I posted nearly everyday. But now I'm down to once a week. I hope your break recharged you. Writing is the most important, right? Good luck with your October book release!

As for me, I'm in the middle of WIP madness. The book has taken hold of me.

  18. Sometimes you just have to take a blogging break. It's so hard to keep up with!

  19. I'm like everyone else - I've missed seeing you around, Angela! Good to have you back. What with our hectic schedules, blogging often needs to take a backseat. I find that I, too, miss it when I've taken a break.

  20. I totally get missing the blogging. I loved meeting and reading posts, but it can seriously take over. Since I work full time, I don't have a lot of time to write anyway, so something had to give. Being realistic and prioritizing what's really important to us is critical. Good luck with the new schedule.

  21. Nice to see you - and I think that sounds like a very reasonable schedule :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yes! I've been on a blogging break, too, and I know exactly what you mean. I'll definitely have to be more reasonable with my time from here on out! :)

  23. I'd burn out if I blogged as much as you have, Angela. You were right to take a break. I'd even consider blogging just once a week - depending on how your present wip goes. Good luck
