IWSG - Who Do You Think You Are?

It is the first Wednesday of the month. For those of you not familiar with what that means, it is Insecure Writer's Support Group (IWSG) day. It is the day where we writers take a moment to vent, share, build up, encourage and be a community-wide support group. Click here for more deets :-)

So...
Hi. My name is Angela Brown. In steamier circles where it's adults only, I go by Rayven Godchild.
And...
I am an author.

I'm not James Patterson, JK Rowling, Walter Mosley, or Veronica Roth. And guess what, I'm fine with that. I hope to write and publish stories that many, many readers will love like those authors do, but I'm my own person, an author with my own voice, and my own style. Truthfully, I don't think I embrace my author-I-am as often as I should.

Time to change that.

So...
Who do you think you are?

  1. Hi, Angela/Rayven,

Lately, I haven't had time to embrace my author persona, but yeah, it's good to know she's in there somewhere and that we're going places.

Love what you've done with the blog.

    1. Keep track of her, J.L. Sometimes, things like doubt and the troubles of life can veil the author.

      And thanks :-)

  3. I have no IDEA who I am - if you find out, can you let me know?????

  4. I wear so many hats, I usually have to check the tag to see who I am at any particular moment.

But embracing that 'self' is the key. Whoever you are, be the best at that particular moment.

  5. I have been thinking a lot lately of giving up my career (working with the elderly) that I have loved but I am exhausted by it for full time writing. I was a full time writer for many years (newspaper) but this is different, now I write books. I am trying to figure out what I want to be...

  6. Good for you Angela!

Me... I am an artist... simple right. Give me anything creative to do and I soar! That's the bottom line.

I'm a lot of things. Right now, overwhelmed comes to mind...

  8. Ah, what a difficult thing to "this is me, and I am okay". Still working on it, myself. But I can fake it pretty well, so that's something.
Great blog :) And I'm glad you know who you are!

  9. Hi Rayven/Angela,
Sounds like you are definitely a committed author! As for me, I teach and write, and right now when I have student research papers it gets frantic. I have a new pen name, Kitsy Clare, and I'm loving having it. I can switch my personas, depending on what I'm writing, which kind of fits my personality too. :)

  11. Raven Godchild. Now how did you create that name? I'm pathetic at nom de plumes. I'm calling you next time I have to think of a name for myself.

  12. I remember how hard it was to say I'm a writer. It took a while, but now I proudly proclaim it--even to the new tax preparer. This is who I am, a writer.

  13. I don't embrace mine as often as I should either. I'm always trying to climb that dang hill. We should learn to love the journey. All the rocky and curvy parts of it.
