Change is a-coming

Change can be a scary thing that can make you want to avoid it at all costs.
But not all the time.
I'm looking to make some changes soon to the following book covers:

Shadow Jumpers trilogy and NEO Chronicles: Characters Revealed

I've enjoyed these covers. Loved them and will always cherish them. But Heather McCorkle and I are hoping the new covers, more uniform series covers, will be to your liking. They'll be coming soon. So if you prefer the current covers and haven't gotten your copy yet, please grab it now (Neverlove, They All Fall Down, Frailties of the Bond, Atone).

Until then, have you ever seen a cover change for a book you liked or just thought was pretty cool? What was your reaction?

  1. As you know, I'm all about the covers. :) I think changing them up so there's a consistent identifying brand will help a lot with your marketing.

  2. I know people do this and often it helps with a spike in sales. Good luck with the changes and more sales. This can be a great promotional idea.

    1. If it helps in sales, that would be nice. But I also hope it helps in providing a clear brand for the series.

Cherie Reich changed the covers to some of her books and the new one are awesome.

  4. The original covers are lovely and evocative individually, but I agree that they don't have a series feel to them. I can't wait to see what you do with them!

  5. Consistency can be a very good thing, and it's something I consider more now for series than I used to. If people know in an instant that such-and-such book is part of a series, they are more likely to buy it if they liked the first one.

  6. Very interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with, Angela. Right now I'm dealing with cover issues on my middle grade book. So many decisions! Good luck with making the right one for your series.

  8. I'm not sure if I've seen a cover change. But more like I've seen the difference with a foreign cover. Sometimes the difference shocks me.

  9. Hey Angela,

Yes, it's me, your adoring fan, Gary.

And thus, you will be revealing a change of covers. Exciting times. Which reminds me, I did a cover change. The darned superstar dog had a bad case of the runs. I shall not give any further details.

Look forward to your new covers, Angela.

    Gary :)

  11. The current covers look pretty good. Knowing me, I'd be apt to think I was looking at a different book if I remembered the original book cover.

  12. these look great but I know what you mean, and yes, Stephanie Perkins comes to mind! She had cutesie YA covers and then just got simple covers for ANNA, LOLA, and ISLA. There was a theme and I think that def helped. Either way if the book's good I'm happy :)
