Because UR

The peeps of Untethered Realms are really awesome!

I enjoyed being part of the first anthology, Twisted Earths, and even though things were a little wacky for me and I didn't get to be a part of Mayhem in the Air, I had to make sure to spread the word of it's major awesomesauceness!

“A Strange Penitence” by Catherine Stine – A young artist pays a supernatural price when a drawing trip to North Carolina turns deadly.

What if everything you thought you knew was a lie?

Crafting spells, running her shop, and hanging with her lover, Hayden, was all Persephone Carraway wanted out of life. The future was filled with endless possibilities as long as it was with the girl of her dreams. But Hayden has a secret and, it turns out, so does Persephone.
One night in the Underworld will change things forever…

Demi, Persephone’s mother has developed a designer pomegranate, infusing it with her daughter’s blood. A single act of betrayal will craft war with the old gods and the Fae, leaving destruction in its wake. Persephone is drawn into a web of myth and magick where nothing is at it seems, even herself.

Persephone took a breath. Her mouth was dry and her skin slick with sweat. She was thirsty. So thirsty. Her eyes wouldn’t focus, and her heart was racing.
“You look like you could use this.” A woman in a black mask and unbuttoned tux jacket approached, holding out a bottle of water. The white dress shirt was halfway open, straining against her breasts. Every movement tugged against the soft flesh, hinting at the bounty buried beneath the fabric. Vest unbuttoned over leather pants and kickass boots, she made Persephone’s breath catch in her throat. The woman’s black hair was slicked back into a tight bun, her red lips plump and succulent.
Hands shaking, Persephone took the bottle. “Thank you.” What is wrong with me?”
“This is your first rave, I take it?”
“Yes.” She drank the cool water, each swallow bringing her more clarity. Soon the bottle was drained and dangled empty in her grasp.
“It can be a little much when they turn on the purple wave. Here. Sit.” The masked woman led her to a chair. Large and white, it faced an enormous fireplace. Green fire burned within. Persephone fell into the chair, her dress spilling around her. She watched the green fire dance, marveling at the images unfolding. Her mind was still muzzy but she
“Faces...there are faces,” she gasped, trying to push herself up from the chair.

A few Q&A with Erzabet

How long does it usually take you to write a book, from the original idea to finishing writing it?
It varies depending on my work schedule. I am branching into longer fiction…so I’ll let you know when I get to the novel stage.

What can we expect from you in the future?  ie More books of the same genre? Books of a different genre?
I love urban fantasy on the whole. BDSM, witches, vampires, different pairings of couples…yes. You’ll be seeing much more of me. I have several short works of erotic fiction coming out this year.

How long have you been writing?, and who or what inspired you to write?
I have been writing since grade school, but honestly it wasn’t until 50 Shades that I really began to crunch down and focus.

Do you have a certain routine you have for writing? ie You listen to music, sit in a certain chair?
I sit at my desk. Sometimes music, sometimes quiet. Must have Dove chocolate nearby. And a lot of water. My dogs are all around my feet and I have my sticky notes and foam-core board ready to go.

How do you come up with characters names and place names in your books?
I dream about them usually. Something will inspire me and I’ll start thinking about who they are until the defining points come into focus.

IWSG and Redemption

Click here for deets on this fantastic group!
It may seem odd, but I actually look forward to the first Wednesday of the month. IWSG'ers unite under the above banner to support, uplift, commiserate in our insecurities, and generally make each and every one of us remember that in this struggle of writing life, we are not alone in our battles.

For me, I'm still in a bit of a multi-directional big bang moment adjusting to my new paying gig. Having been there for just a couple of days, everything is still so new and chaotic. Although I'm a big fan and supporter of NaNoWriMo, I'm glad I decided not to participate this year. There's only so much a person can do.

Speaking of only so much you can do, I'm glad I squeezed in a wonderful read. Author Jessica Therrien has released the third book in her Children of the Gods series, Redemption.
About Redemption
Lead Council member, Christoph, is dead by Elyse’s hand, and Descendants have begun to emerge, exposing their secret to the world. Some see this as the prophecy come to fruition, but the prophecy caries a heavy consequence. It was never meant to be as peaceful as most had hoped.

Humans and Descendants struggle to live together in a world that isn’t ready for such a change. America is divided. Those who glorify the supernatural race believe Descendants truly are the gods they claim relation to. Others see them as a threat.

When Elyse gives birth to the next generation oracle, she sees one final vision—war. The destruction of the country’s major cities, and the end of America as we know it.

After her daughter is born, Elyse finds herself without the ability she needs to predict the future. Desperate to save the world from such conflict, she puts her faith in the hope that Descendants are the key to survival. After all, they have the power to supply a broken society with the means to survive.

Only from the ashes can a new world be born.

My Review
*Redemption is the third book in the Children of the Gods series, a great follow up to Oppression (book one) and Uprising (book two). In trying to keep this as a spoiler free review, it can get hard. I want to talk about all the wonderful scenes that left me gasping or the sudden twists that had me going OMG! The writing is fluid and it was hard to put my kindle down at times. But I eventually had to go to sleep or feed my kiddo dinner lol! Kudos to Jessica for this great novel :-)*

Have you gotten aboard the IWSG train? If not, anything in particular giving you pause? And make sure to click the book title links to hop on over to Amazon to get your copy of Jessica's books.

New Adventures

Let's start this day with a snack:
Yep, something tasty, yummy, and comforting to help me with this day. There's something a little different about this Monday. Something new.

The truth is that every day we wake to breathe, move, laugh, and live is a day of newness. A new chance to right a wrong. A new chance to smile and make your own day brighter while shining a bit of hope into the lives of others around you.

But today's "new" is different...because I'm starting a new job.

I'd been with my previous employer for 14 years. Not a long time compared to some, but an active time filled with highs, lows, a marriage, a divorce, and relocations. I liken the time spent to that of an author who's written and published a series of novels from a world they developed - practically lived in - for many years. Now they are leaving that place of comfort to face the blank page of a whole new world.

It's exciting.

It's challenging.

It's scary...'s time, and I'm ready.

Has there been any "newness" sparking for you recently? What's your advice for facing new adventures?
