Of Sales and Hacks

Of Sales...

It has been a while since I mentioned anything about my books in a marketing way. Truthfully, where my writing took a hit and has moved at the speed of a tortoise stuck in mollases, my marketing took a deathblow to the head.

Today, I begin a rather slow resurrection by sharing that Fable Ranger: Summons is on sale. You can grab a heavily discounted copy today at Smashwords using the coupon code RAE50. Then you can discover the importance of the above picture. If Smashwords isn't your thing, I am sure you can find it discounted on Amazon as well.

and Hacks...

Anyone who has been hacked knows it is no fun. You have to do quite a few things to prove you are you so the hacker can get the boot. On Instagram, my tomewriter account got hacked. This tomewriter2 impersonated me, going to my followers, DMing them and goodness only knows what else. Thank you to those who hit me up and let me know that something was wrong. And I am sorry you had to deal with some cheap imitation of me bothering any of you.

After doing my part to prove I am who I am, Instagram notified me that the imposter is gone. Now, I'm a bit paranoid so I deleted my tomewriter account anyway and created a new account with additional privacy settings. Going to give it another go :-)

So, any book sales you want to share about in the comments? Have you been hacked? What was you experience like?

Sorry you were hacked. It was smart to start a new account with more security but bummer you have to build it up all over again.

For the life of me, I can't understand the profit in hacking a regular person. What do they get for impersonating us?

I'm glad you caught it early though and took steps to cut them off. I've never been on Instagram before. I hope you'll write a post on how it work and how you like it.

Many cyber hugs, Angela. I think it's this year, or maybe the changes in the industry over the past 16 or so months. It seems most of us are writing more slowly than usual. I honestly think part of it is the marketing/promo responsibilities, while the other part is just thinking about having to do all that. Sucks the life out of writing. I've recently decided to ignore promoting for a bit and concentrate on finishing this manuscript and starting the next. Forge ahead, right?

Hacked? Not my computer, but just yesterday my credit card got hacked and ... wait for it ... the perps bought an Amazon Prime account. WTH? I had to close my accounts, get a new card, inform older accounts... Such a pain.

That's awful you were hacked. Unfortunately it happens too often these days. Good luck with the sale! My marketing has been slow going too. I can't afford to take the step everyone says needs to be taken. I'm actually trying an experiment with a new project to see what that will do.

Hackers have too much time on their hands and too much evil in their hearts.

How awful to get hacked :( . Hopefully, they get a little bit of karma coming their way, and things get back to normal for you:)
